Campaigns have four metrics associated with performance; clicks, conversions, mentions and impressions.
When an influencer joins a campaign they receive a unique campaign link that they can share with their social audiences. When the campaign link is clicked on, the user is redirected to the campaign landing page, and the influencer is compensated for the click.
We take careful steps to eliminate click fraud from our campaigns. Bots, proxies, VPN, Tor browsers and any suspicious activity is flagged, and influencers do not receive compensation for that click. Only 1 click from each IP address is compensated, so if a user clicks two or more times on a link, only the first click will be compensated. In essence, each click that you pay for is a unique visitor.
We rely on both internal fraud detection measures as well as 3rd party APIs to help identify and weed out click fraud.
Conversions can be recorded two ways:
- Advertisers place our tracking code snippet on their, "Thank You" page.
- Advertisers create an app on Swaayed, and report conversions using our API.
A conversion can be any activity that triggers our tracking code or conversion API. A product sale, app install, media download, lead form, etc.
Mentions and Impressions:
A mention happens when an influencer shares their campaign tracking link. An impression happens when a follower sees that tracking link mention. So for each mention there will be multiple impressions.
Tracking of mentions and impressions is difficult, because not many social network API's provide that level of details. Additionally, the campaign tracking link can be shared on the, "dark web" (email, messaging apps, private groups, forums, etc) which provide no visibility into how many people saw the link.
Therefore mentions and impressions are a calculation based off the number of clicks and what we know of the influencer's social reach. Right now they are estimates, and are not hard numbers like clicks and conversions, but they can be useful in giving a broader picture of pre-click interactions.
